Reaching People 4 Careers

On this June day four years ago, I embarked on a faith journey to start my own career coaching business. And oh God has been faithful!

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart, but thankfully my heart is full. To the clients I have been privileged to meet, work with, and witness the arrival into your next career opportunity, thank you!

RP4C is the acronym for Reaching People 4 Careers where we bring professionals into the alignment of their vocational calling for this time and season. To use an architecture analogy from my first career path, I’ve designed and built a framework that allows me to work with any professional from any industry and still see results.

To commemorate this fourth birthday, I will share the four critical things you need for a successful arrival into your next opportunity when working with RP4C.

Number 1:

A readiness to see true alignment for your career where your natural talents are utilized, your values are honored, and your day-to-day tasks energize you.

Embracing change for your career is a process. It’s ok to not be prepared for the next step just yet. But for me to help someone arrive at their next opportunity, you have to be ready and willing to put in the effort to see your blind spots, address the things that have held you back, celebrate your uniqueness, and step forward boldly in the interview process. I cannot want it more for my clients. We must be matched in a desire to see you land at that next place of employment or business ownership.

Number 2:

A commitment to embrace ambiguity and to trust the process.

I consistently get asked about how to solve the problem in someone’s career during discovery calls because it feels like a giant unknown to the potential client of how this is all going to be resolved for them. Within the RP4C framework, we journey through three phases of work: Self-Discovery, Strategy, and Implementation. In short, if you knew how to solve it on your own, you would do it! I consider it the privilege of a lifetime to illuminate to my clients the very best in them, create the strategy to re-brand them with their outbound communication documents (resume, LinkedIn, etc.), and hold them accountable to implement the game plan for the job search. Every person is uniquely designed and it’s my joy to help them shine and be activated in their gifting to reach their next opportunity.

Number 3:

A willingness to invest in yourself.

Sometimes this is the first time since college that someone is investing in their career progression. College was when we made a bold statement: “This is my path!” And it takes courage to admit that maybe we made the wrong choice once we graduated. I have seen people be on the career path utilizing their degree, but are dissatisfied. I have also seen people be on a path that deviated from their degree, and are dissatisfied. It takes courage to say somewhere along the way: “I got off the path and I’m willing to invest time and money for myself to get on the right track for my career.”

Number 4:

A desire to work together.

I have resisted the popularity of group coaching and chosen to focus on individualized career coaching. Whether that changes in the future to expand service offerings I cannot say right now, but my desire to help the professional in his or her next career opportunity is what fuels me. I love seeing people experience the joy of a career path that offers true fulfillment; where there are more great days than bad ones. I often tell people there is no perfect career or job because we don’t live in a perfect world. But I also say you can get really close because when you operate in your natural gifts and talents, when your day-to-day tasks fill up your cup versus drain you, and when your values are honored by the people and company you work for, you are in career alignment! I love collaborating with the individual for his or her success. It does take both of us to make it happen and it would be an honor to be considered as your Career Coach.

Thank you to every person who has helped me in building RP4C! A special shout-out to my Dad and Mom for their wisdom and guidance in business ownership, plus prayer and financial support. I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
